Pharmaceutical Analysis

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis is responsible for imparting knowledge in the field of modern instrumental techniques for both B.Pharmacy and all branches of M.Pharmacy. It involves basic research in identity, purity, content and stability of starting materials, excipients, active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms. The department involves in various research activities like method development of synthetic and natural drugs, stability studies, elucidation of newly synthesized drugs, Multi-component drug analysis, Bioanalytical studies, isolation and characterization of phytopharmaceuticals and validation of pharmaceutical dosage forms using chromatographic (HPLC and GC) and Spectrophotometric (UV-Visible) methods. The department is well equipped with modern analytical instruments with good infrastructure facilities and carries activities as per good laboratory practices (GLP) and monitored as per ICH guidelines. The department is provided with eminent faculty having research experience and also qualified lab technician for the smooth conduction of research activities and lab experiments for both UG and PG students.

The Following are the main research areas being actively involved in the department
• Development and validation of analytical methods for multi component drugs in their
formulations by using RP-HPLC, Spectrophotometric and various titrimetric methods.
• Development and validation of analytical methods for detection and quantification of
impurities in pharmaceutical dosage forms.
• Development and validation of chiral separation of some enantiomeric drugs by HPLC.
• Development and validation of newer analytical method for drugs in formulations and
Biological fluids.
• Quality control testing of various drugs in formulations.
