The Examination Policy of Bapatla College of Pharmacy is framed in line with the vision of Institute with regard to the governance, to take care all the exam related activities as per the Regulation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) for the respective Schemes.

Assessment of students learning should be a fair and transparent process which follows university regulations so that students are treated respectfully and impartially across the institution. Assessments of student learning will be transparent, applied consistently, and consistent with course objectives. Students will receive prompt and constructive feed back on their learning progress at regular intervals. This document incorporates all the policies, rules and procedures relating to students’ assessment following set policies by the affiliating University.

OBJECTIVES:
  • To establish and develop a highly efficient, transparent, and disciplined system for conducting examinations to evaluate the students as per the Regulation of affiliating university.
  • To improve the quality of examination and evaluation to ensure the credibility of the Examination system for the betterment of students.
  • To improve the learning and assessment process of the students.


ACADEMIC CALENDAR OF THE SEMESTER

The Academic Calendar prepared by the Director, Academic Planning, JNTUK is received before commencement of the academic year and preparing an academic schedule in detail by the examination cell & then communicate to all the concerned to inform the academic program and various examinations schedule to be conducted in the semester. The examination cell, based on the academic schedules, will conduct internal theory and lab examinations, evaluation etc and similarly the external theory and lab exams as per the timetable notified by the university.


EXAMINATION CELL

To implement this policy in an effective manner, The Examination Committee has been constituted with a composition of Chief Superintendent and an Examination Incharge.  The Examination Cell is a confidential body with the responsibility of conduction of examinations both internal and external, and display of results, maintenance of student records for all courses offered by college. Thus, the Exam Cell functions with JNTUK regarding all matters related to the University examinations and as well as the internal exams of the institute. The Examination Incharge coordinates all the proceedings of the Exam cell with the consultation of the principal referred as Chief Superintendent. Any information either received or required to be sent to the University is being dealt with the Exam Cell. Any circular, guidelines, office order, notifications received by the college is processed by the cell; reply there of prepared and after principal’s signature dispatched to the University.

As per the regulations from JNTUK, the assessment of the student’s performance in each course will be based on Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Semester-End Examination (SEE). The performance of a student in each semester shall be evaluated subject–wise with a maximum of 100 marks for theory subjects and 50 marks for practical subject. For theory subjects the distribution shall be 25 marks for Internal Evaluation and 75 marks for the End Examinations. The following is the distribution and weightage of marks for various programs available in institute.

The theory & practical subjects during a semester, there shall be two mid-term examinations. Each mid-term examination for theory subject consist of

  1. Continuous mode of evaluation.
  2. Objective examination
  3. Descriptive examination.

The marks allocated for Continuous mode of Internal Assessment shall be awarded as per the scheme given below.

The average marks of two mid – term exams shall be computed for internal assessment as per the requirements given in above table. Mid- term exam shall be conducted for 30 marks for theory and shall be computed for 15 marks. Similarly, mid-term exam for practical shall be conducted for 40 marks and shall be computed for 10 marks.

 

Mid- term exam for Non- University theory subject shall be conducted for 30 marks for theory and shall be computed for 10 marks. Similarly, mid-term exam for Non- University practical shall be conducted for 40 marks and shall be computed for 5 marks.

The end practical examination shall be conducted by the teacher concerned and external examiner appointed by controller of examinations, JNTUK.

The internal and external examiner appointed by the University shall evaluate the project at the of the VIII semester. Students shall be evaluated in groups for four hours (i.e., about half an hour for a group of five students).  The projects shall be evaluated as per the criteria given in the regulations.

Master of Pharmacy:

The end practical examination shall be conducted by the teacher concerned and external examiner appointed by controller of examinations, JNTUK.

The internal and external examiner appointed by the University shall evaluate the project at the time of the Practical examinations of other semester(s). The projects shall be evaluated as per the criteria given in the regulations.

The mid marks submitted to the University examination section shall be displayed in the concerned college notice boards for the benefit of the students.

 If any discrepancy found in the submitted Mid-1 marks, it shall be brought to the notice of examination section within one week from the submission.

 With the above criteria, examination section will send mid marks of all subjects in consolidated form to all the concerned colleges and same shall be displayed in the concerned college notice boards. If any discrepancy found, it shall be brought to the notice of university examination section through proper channel within one week with all proofs. Discrepancies brought after the given deadline will not be entertained under any circumstances.
